Hello
My name is Heather Churney and I am the owner of Footprints College Counseling. When you sign up for services, you will work directly with me! I live in Queen Creek, AZ with my husband Robert, two children, Collin and Hailee, 2 labs and 6 chickens. I have a passion for working with high school students in preparing for their future!
My Story
Shortly after graduating with my BA in Public Relations, I knew that God had another calling for my life! I started my career as a high school counselor in 2011 in Irvine, CA. I have had the opportunity to build counseling departments at two new high schools throughout my career. In 2015, we moved to Arizona where I continued my school counseling career (even through the pandemic). Throughout this time as a school counselor, I served as adjunct faculty at various universities training the next generation of school counselors. In 2022 a door opened for me to become a full-time professor and Director of a graduate school counseling program. I now teach, write curriculum, and manage 40 adjuncts and over 400 graduate students. While I love this position, I do miss working with teens, which is where Footprints College Counseling was born.
I am currently back in school pursuing my Ed.D and plan to write my dissertation on "Exploring the mental health challenges that twice-exceptional students face in the K-12 educational setting."
